Unnecessary migration-A short term gain for a long term loss

Globalization is becoming a common phenomenon.Every company wants to have a tag of being a global entity.Hence companies are expanding rapidly spreading their wings across the nation and beyond. So in India there are offices of the company in all zones north, east, west and south. In many companies, the workforce is migrated.
To state an example a company having an office in Mumbai and Chennai will many times prefer to send an employee having hometown in Mumbai to work in Chennai and vice versa. The company feels that the employee being alone in a new place will work for longer hours as s/he has nothing to do after going home, which in a short term is right.
Let us consider the employee's perspective....S/he is a fresher out of college wanting desperately to take up a job.So s/he takes up a job even if it means relocation.Initially s/he feels nice about the new place, staying with room mates or alone and enjoying a new lifestyle. But as the age grows the needs change.By that time s/he may realize that the current phase was a very temporary one and that its like s/he has ended up spending a lot of money which could have been saved otherwise if s/he would not have migrated, leave alone the intangible benefits of living with the parents and old friends. What happens id at a point of time s/he may start weighing the pros and the cons of the migration. This stage actually comes in everyone's life who has migrated. There is no issue if the person is completely satisfied. However even if a hint of dissatisfaction is there the repercussions are huge both for the employee and the company. The performance may go down which may lead to a lose-lose situation for both the employee and the company. A glaring fact is that migration may never be considered as the root cause.Neither the company, nor the employee would actually think that it may cause a snowball effect.
Such a scenario is very  dangerous for companies who rely on talented individuals who can be in-cognizant about this phenomenon. Its time for companies who apply this strategy to think on it....
